Become our next Chief Executive
You will lead the Council’s paid service, and act as the principal policy adviser to the Council, leaders and members.
Welcome from Cllr Helen Pennell, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council
Thank you for your interest in becoming the next Chief Executive of Bracknell Forest Council. This is a significant appointment for us: an opportunity to build on many years of stability and strong performance while bringing fresh leadership to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We love Bracknell Forest. We are proud of what our council, our partners and our communities have achieved together, and we are even more excited about what comes next. We have strong foundations, a clear sense of purpose and genuine confidence in our future.
This is a distinctive place, with inspirational communities, excellent schools, exceptional green spaces, a thriving economy and an enviable location. Our connectivity gives us access and influence across the wider region, while our strong community mindset keeps us close to residents and focused on the difference we make in people’s lives.
We are a well-run, high-performing unitary authority that already punches above its weight. We are helping to shape future growth through our role in the emerging spatial development strategy, contributing to discussions about the future strategic authority and exploring new approaches to housing and partnership working. We want our next Chief Executive to help us punch even higher.
Our strong position does not make us complacent. A changing funding environment, rising demand and increasing costs bring new challenges, and we are facing them head on. The next phase of our transformation will strengthen our financial resilience, reduce reliance on reserves and ensure we continue to deliver the services and outcomes our communities value.
We are looking for a Chief Executive who shares our pride in Bracknell Forest and our ambition for its future. You will think strategically, lead visibly and openly, and bring people together behind a common purpose. You will inherit an experienced senior team, engaged staff and a culture grounded in values that are genuinely lived every day: Inclusive, Ambitious and Always Learning.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a successful and stable council into a bold new phase: addressing our challenges directly, seizing the opportunities ahead and ensuring Bracknell Forest continues to deliver for its communities while playing an influential role across the wider region.
If that excites you, I hope you will consider joining us. We look forward to hearing from you.
Councillor Helen Pennell
Leader, Bracknell Forest Council
